Take a look at the ten names in the geneology recorded in Genesis chapter 5.
Whoever established this, established it by deliberate design.

Shet                appointed
Enosh               "anash": mortal, incurable
Kenan               sorrow, (see Numbers 21)
Mahala-el           blessed God
Yared               came down
Enoch (Khanoch)     teaching
Methu-shalakh       his death will send
Lamech              despairing
Noah                comfort,rest
